We aren’t just a development company; we are members of the Southwest Florida community just like you are. As you may have noticed, we like to do a lot for the people in our community, like our December Toys for Tots drive and the annual school supply donations we collect each August. This year, we want to help some of our area’s furry friends as well. On January 25, 2018, we are holding a fundraiser to help dogs, BIG dogs. Big Hearts for Big Dogs, a local charity, works closely with the Lee County Humane Society and Speciality Veteran Services of Fort Myers to serve a dire need in our area.
Why big dogs? It is statistically proven that big dogs have less of a chance to be adopted from a shelter than their smaller and more manageable counterparts. Even worse, these dogs have a higher chance of medical conditions that require them to be cared for on a personal level, taken to the vet more often, and given medications on a regular basis. This combines for a lot of sad large dogs without the proper care they deserve. We don’t like this! That is why we’ve teamed up with Big Hearts for Big Dogs. They are a non profit organization that helps take care of these dogs, out of a shelter, as well as find them foster and adoptive homes. Foster parents can discuss with Big Hearts for Big Dogs how much they are willing to help, and for how long. You could be seasonal, only help with puppies, help with pregnant large dogs, or help dogs who need specific medical care. Of course, everyone is working towards what is best for the dogs, which is why certain background and criminal checks are done before a foster parent is accepted into the organization.
Several Beattie Development employees have large dogs, so this need is close to our collective heart. The event will be held from 5 to 7pm at our Model Home Center, located at 1815 Cape Coral Parkway West. Please contact us at (239) 766-4150 for more information about the event or to find out how you can help. All of their needed supplies can be found on their Amazon Wish List here. It included puppy training pads, chew dogs, and grain-free dog food.
